JIUN HO INTRODUCES BOLDLY DIVERSE NEW TEXTILE COLLECTION REFLECTING GLOBAL LANDSCAPE AND CULTURAL INFLUENCES 2017, September 12

Noted furnishings and interiors designer Jiun Ho announces his first textile collection, Jiun Ho Textile, available through Jiun Ho representative showrooms in major markets—initially Holland & Sherry in New York, Atlanta, Chicago, and Washington, DC.

A passionate designer and traveler, Jiun Ho is spiritually and artistically inspired by the world’s incredible diversity of landscapes and cultures. Jiun Ho Textile captures the beauty of global terrains and peoples. Many of the designs are deft adaptations from the designer’s own photography.

This initial launch of the collection, titled Salar, numbers twenty unique designs and 132 SKU—many colors in each pattern. The first spark of inspiration for them arose during Jiun Ho’s travels in South America, specifically to the salt flats and deserts of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, and Chile, with their strikingly colored red lakes, flamingos, skies, and pampas.

The materials range from linn to cotton, velvet, chenille, and satin, using fibers of the highest quality, and can be used in a variety of applications, from window treatments to furniture upholstery. In the manufacturing, Jiun Ho is closely collaborating with leading mills in Italy and beyond.

The collection will soon grow to encompass many more unique designs, grouped into families based on the geographical region of their inspiration. It will include hundreds of distinct colorways, including many different neutrals, allowing for innumerable color combinations.

Jiun Ho came to the United States from his native Malaysia to study design and worked for several leading interior design firms before opening his own studio in San Francisco fifteen years ago. He quickly became known for his sensuous interiors that combine a minimal aesthetic and global inspirations. This led to to Jiun Ho’s furniture and lighting collections, now offered in multiple showrooms throughout the United States.

Working out of his San Francisco gallery, Jiun Ho de Jia, the designer and his team are surrounded by art, objects, and antiques from throughout the world. The gallery also provides a showcase for Jiun Ho’s ever-evolving signature collections. Visitors have the opportunity to acquire pieces unobtainable anywhere else.

Jiun Ho has been nominated for an Interior Design Best of Year award, and his designs have been published in Elle Decor, Interiors, the New York Times, Luxe, Architectural Digest, and numerous other publications in the United States and internationally. He has been invited to participate in leading show houses and to take part in design forums, panel presentations, and other special events around the world.

JIUN HO AND MICHEAL STEINBERG PRESENT: HAND OVER HAND 2017, May 22

New York: Jiun Ho Inc. and Michael Steinberg Fine Art are pleased to announce Hand Over Hand, the debut of an on-going series of art exhibitions to be curated by Michael Steinberg and hosted by Jiun Ho @ Dennis Miller NY. The opening reception will take place on May 22nd, 2017 from 5:30 – 8:00 PM.

Hand Over Hand features the work of five artists, Cora Cohen, Larry Poons, Stephen Pusey, Brie Ruais and Kikuo Saito, all of whose works make manifest the hand of the artist. While sharing many qualities - gestural, tactile, lyrical and expressive - the selected works demonstrate a diverse sampling of the nearly endless varieties of mark making found in contemporary art. As an exhibition, Hand Over Hand is also transgenerational with artists ranging in age from thirty-five to eighty.

Cora Cohen was born in Manhattan in 1943, Her work draws from contemporary urban and philosophical sources. Her paintings, altered x-rays, and drawings are based on seemingly contradictory ways of seeing and making. As acts of erasure follow figuration, discernible imagery gives way to uncertainty, waywardness, and displacement.

Cohen’s first major solo exhibition was held at the Everson Museum of Art in 1974. She became increasingly interested in the notion of painting informed by a world outside of the self-reflexive concerns of modernism and postmodernism and during this period made paintings that affirmed the medium’s capacity to extend beyond a rectilinear format. A traveling exhibition, Cora Cohen: paintings and altered x-rays 1983-1996, and additional solo and group exhibitions, brought her critical recognition in the United States and Europe.

Larry Poons is an abstract painter who was born in Tokyo, Japan. He rose to prominence in the 1960s with paintings of circles and ovals on solid—often brilliantly colored—backgrounds. His work moved away from the optical art towards looser and more painterly abstract canvases. His work is associated with Op Art, Hard-edge painting, Color Field painting, Lyrical Abstraction and Abstract Expressionism.

He was given his first one-man exhibition in 1963 at Richard Bellamy’s famed Green Gallery, and in 1965 his work was included in MoMA’s celebrated exhibition, "The Responsive Eye." In 1969, Poons was the youngest artist featured in curator Henry Geldzahler’s landmark survey, "New York Painting and Sculpture, 1940-1970." In 1981 the MFA Boston organized an exhibition of his paintings from the 1970s. The work of Larry Poons is included in major museum and private collections throughout the United States and abroad.

Stephen Pusey was born in London and graduated from St. Martins School of Art. In 1986, he exhibited at PS1 (MoMA PS1) after which New York became his domicile. During the following years, Pusey experimented with various forms including digital and networked media.

Concurrent with his explorations in the digital realm, Pusey continued exhibiting and working with physical material. Between 2003 and 2004, he exhibited a 9 x 20 foot Abstract graphite mural at the Slought Foundation, Philadelphia. The following year his Abstract paintings and graphite installations were shown at Hermes, New York. The artist has had various solo and group exhibitions in New York City and internationally including Michael Steinberg Fine Art and, in 2013, at Guided by Voices.

Brie Ruais was born in 1982, in Southern California. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Merging the movements and weight of her body with hunks of clay, Brie Ruais stomps, kicks, stretches, wedges, rakes, and pulls this earthy material into abstract, organic forms that serve as beguilingly beautiful records of her actions. Listing Ana Mendieta and feminist theory as influences, she sees her work as a feminist version of Richard Serra’s. Ruais’s projects begin with a set of instructions, which she carries out quickly, infusing the clay with the energy of her process. With heavily worked surfaces finished with richly colored glazes, her pieces recall landscapes, abstract paintings, and the contours of the body itself.

Ruais had solo exhibitions at Nicole Klagbrun Gallery and Mesler/Feuer in New York and participated in group exhibitions at the American University Museum, in Washington D.C and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA.

Kikuo Saito was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1939 and moved to New York City in 1966. His knowledge of choreography and stage direction have directly influence his approach to painting. Typically, he painted on the floor, circling and moving over the canvas to create each composition. The resultant works are rhythmic, gestural and expressionistic. His rich constellations of gestural works offer deliberate evidence of the artist’s hand. Shifts in density, scale, tone, and intensity of strokes suggest that each gesture occupies an individual position.

Saito has had solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. His work is included in in public and private collections such as The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Aldrich Museum, Connecticut; Duke University Museum of Art, North Carolina; AT&T Collection, New York; Estee Lauder Collection, New York; J.P. Morgan Chase Collection, New York and the World Bank, Washington, D.C.

The innovative and multi-disciplinary Jiun Ho Inc, founded by Jiun Ho, includes Jiun Ho Furniture, Jiun Ho Light, Jiun Ho Textile, Jiun Ho Interiors and Jiun Ho de Jia, a gallery and atelier that showcase Jiun’s hand-selected art and antiques. In 2016, the Company launched Jiun Ho @ Dennis Miller NY followed by Jiun Ho Chicago. 'AFRICA' COLLECTION OF OUTDOOR FABRICS DESIGNED BY JIUN HO DEBUT AT PARIS DECO OFF Mariaflora and Filippo Uecher Launch New Textural Visions on Right Bank 2016, December 15

(December 15, 2016) – The Mariaflora brand of outdoor fabrics will present an Africa-themed collection from California designer and inveterate traveler Jiun Ho, an intriguing – if not entirely unique collaboration – that will be unveiled at Paris Deco Off, January 19 to 23, 2017.

There are five patterns in Mariaflora’s Africa Collection, and three of them will actually be shown on Jiun Ho’s furniture designs during Paris Deco Off.  The collection will be displayed along with new Filippo Uecher fabrics in two Left Bank showrooms laid out by Jiun to have a seamless flow. The showrooms are entered at 53 rue de Seine.

Mariaflora is a brand of high-end outdoor fabrics woven at a mill owned and operated by the Filippo Uecher family in the mountains of Italy. Africa represents Mariaflora’s first collaboration with an outside designer.

“Filippo and I share an interest in traveling the world, and we have love for the continent of Africa – South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana, Tanzania, Zimbabwe,” says Jiun. “I have had the urge to design a fabric collection for the longest time, and to collaborate with Mariaflora was the perfect solution.”

Named after some of the most exclusive game reserves in Botswana, one of Jiun’s favorite safari destinations, the fabric patterns depict a stylized version of the plains, desert, dry rocks and riverbeds of Africa.

Mariaflora’s Africa Collection will include five patterns: Mombo, Jao, Linyanti, Vumbura and Okavango. Each pattern will be offered in six colors: Terracotta, Green, Blue, Turquoise, Grey/Charcoal, and White/Beige.

“Red is not the most common color to see in outdoor fabrics but we came up with a golden red that reminds of African sunsets,” says Jiun, adding, “The tactile quality of the fabrics is remarkable. They are beautifully woven and soft to the touch.”

Woven on both dobby and jacquard looms, Mariaflora textiles are directed towards the residential market, though the brand has been used in both hospitality and commercial settings. The fabrics are woven with 100% Solution Dyed Acrylic at Mariaflora’s mill in Biella, Italy.

Filippo Uecher will also be presenting two new collections made entirely of natural fiber:

  • Tintoretto – four new stripe patterns woven in 100% linen. The quality of fabric will be similar to the Bernini Collection introduced last fall.
  • Donatello – geometric designs woven on jacquard looms, including a new houndstooth construction in linen and cotton and raffia woven in cotton/linen.

JIUN HO POP-UP PRESENTED BY THOMAS LAVIN AT PACIFIC DESIGN CENTER, SUITE B370 2016, March 23

Los Angeles, CA -- Jiun Ho proudly announces the preview of his new Jiun Ho Collection V at WESTWEEK 2016 in the Pacific Design Center on March 23rd and 24th and will remain open by appointment through April 19. Presented by Thomas Lavin, Jiun’s Los Angeles showroom representative, Jiun has designed a thoughtful pop-up display in Suite 370 that serves as a celebration and narrative of his 15 years of product design.

Part travelogue and part autobiography, the temporary space displays 16 new designs along with Jiun’s photography of his recent crossing of five continents -- from Asia to Africa, Europe and North and South America. Large blow-ups suspended from the ceiling document Mr. Ho’s sources of inspiration, among them striking images of precisely cut Incan masonry, the Chateaus de Chenonceau and de Chambord in the Loire Valley, the Okavango Delta in Botswana and Mondrian’s distilled canvases.

Jiun Ho was born in Malaysia and early trips throughout Asia with his family fostered his passion for learning and design. He has now visited over 100 countries and this exposure to unfamiliar surroundings, people, art, and material culture has provided him with an extraordinarily rich vantage point. The more he has seen, the more inspired, confident and emboldened he has become. States Jiun, “I learned that the language of design transcends time and place. This freedom to discover and to look at things with a different perspective was totally immersive and, on my recent travels, I became more adventurous and innovative.”

During visits to Peru, Chile and Bolivia, Jiun was struck not only by the captivating landscape and culture, but the living blend of ancient and modern. His Maras Chair, Pisac Cabinet and Ica Shelving evoke precisely cut Incan masonry and the vibrant colors embraced by the region’s culture. The Picchu Coffee Table, Acora Coffee Table, and Picos Chairs recall the weathered terrain and deconstructed beauty of Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Okavango Delta in Botswana, an immense, astounding oasis in the Kalahari Desert, inspired the massive Masai Dining Table with its handsome drum base, along with the Etosha Chair, whose long, graceful arms evoke the curl of an elephant’s trunk and the grace of an antelope. France also looms large as impetus for his designs, including the stately Vendome Table and the soigné Odeon Table, homage to Hector Guimard’s exuberant architecture for the Paris Metro. The delicate beauty of the Saumur Console and Bench reference his visit to the Chateaus de Chenonceau and de Chambord in the Loire Valley.

Distilled and refined, the Aomori Bed recreates a Japanese dreamscape with African undertones. A little closer to home, the Kama Chair is all about Palm Springs. There is the realm of art, too, with Macari seating evoking the geometry and rigor of Mondrian’s de Stilj canvases and No More Play Tables, a tribute to Alberto Giacometti.

As formal expressions of their functionality, the Jiun Ho Collection V references and reimagines nature and the man-made. Translating a minimal aesthetic with a global worldview, contrasting textures, clean lines, rich dark woods, and sumptuous fabrics distinguish Jiun’s inventive, balanced and luxurious ensemble. While designing his 15th Anniversary collection, he learned that design transcends all borders and that the eye really must travel to fully fathom and appreciate beauty.

Jiun Ho is the recipient of numerous awards and his products and interiors have been published in leading national and international publications. His furniture and lighting designs are featured in some of the world's most exclusive homes and are available in premiere showrooms throughout the United States, Canada and select international locations. To commemorate his 15th Anniversary, Jiun previews the PopUp Presented by Thomas Lavin, his exclusive Los Angeles representative. From March 25 through April 19th, the Collection can be seen by appointment and designers are asked to call 310.278.2456 to schedule a date and time. New York, NY -- Jiun Ho is proud to announce the Jiun Ho Collection V, an ensemble of inventive designs launching November 2015 at the New York Design Center. Running concurrently with Modernism Week Palm Springs Feb 15-23, the Show House also includes leading designers such as Christopher Kennedy, Thomas Lavin, Woodson and Rummerfield’s, Celerie Kemble, Trina Turk and many others.

“We’ve worked with Jiun for many years on a variety of projects,” adds Luxe Interiors + Design editor in chief Pamela Jaccarino. “His attention to detail and ability to tell a story offer the perfect addition to what promises to be a must-see creative showcase.”

Ho has traveled to more than one hundred countries and fuses his first-hand experiences with the art and design of these cultures into his work. Ho’s design for The Christopher Kennedy Compound follows this line of thinking, taking a cue from the desert silhouettes and the modern heritage of Palm Springs.

Ho’s central dining room delves into the mood and mystique of this desert. The space envelopes visitors in tranquility, offering an artful take on the ’60s modernism. The room is awash in a palette of soft neutrals, organic textures and punctuated by locally sourced art including works by sculptor Josh Garber. Ho crafted a new, original design, the Kama chair, specifically for The Christopher Kennedy Compound event. This wood chair with cowhide upholstery blends an architectural sensibility of ’50s and ’60s Palm Springs with the beautiful finishes and natural texture that characterizes much of Ho’s own furniture line, the Jiun Ho Collection. The centerpiece of the room is the Osomo dining table, a popular design that Ho customized especially for the event with a top of stunning limestone to give a nod to the colors and textures of the surrounding desertscape. Offering a small a desert oasis, the table is topped by 22 vibrant crystal butterflies and shimmering vases by Show House sponsor Baccarat. A vintage Moroccan rug adds a note of intriguing texture.

“It’s an honor to work with such amazing partners to explore the modern heritage of Palm Springs,” says Ho. “In the process, the past becomes relevant not only locally but nationally and internationally as well.”

JIUN HO ROUNDS OUT AFRICA COLLECTION WITH NEW FURNITURE OFFERINGS Three New Designs Present a Modern Take on the Textures and Traditions of a Captivating Continent 2014, March 18
(San Francisco, CA) Celebrated furniture and interiors designer Jiun Ho is pleased to announce three new pieces created for his popular Africa Collection. Inspired by recent trips to Africa, Jiun Ho was taken with the roughly textured woods, the boldly shaped trees and the indigenous designs that he repeatedly saw throughout his travels. The three new releases, Masai Side Table, Hwange Dining Table and Ulu Cocktail Table, round out the Africa Collection offerings by paying homage to the diversity of topography, culture, flora and fauna of this amazing continent.

The three new pieces include:

Masai Side Table – On a recent trip to Africa, Jiun participated in a traditional Masai drum circle and the experience, under a star-filled Mozambican sky around a crackling fire, inspired him to create the Masai side table. A powerful symbol of African culture and musicianship, drums are often passed through the generations and feature deliciously worn finishes and textural hand-made shapes. Jiun captured the intriguing handcrafted qualities of African drums with a cast bronze base with a subtle texture and lustrous cinnamon patina. The tabletop is inset with luminous marble.

Hwange Dining Table – The Hwange dining table takes its inspiration from the majestic trees of the Zimbabwean savannah, which create striking silhouettes against the sky. The Hwange’s sculptural cast bronze base is a work of art as well as functional: the single, central pedestal allows for maximum flexibility and ease of entertaining. The tabletop is available in hand-burnished lacquer or wood. A distinctive design statement piece that anchors any dining area.

Ulu Cocktail Table – Contrasting a brilliant Carrera marble top with a blackened cast bronze base, the Ulu cocktail table celebrates the creativity and ingenuity borne out of a continent that is both beautiful and harsh. Embracing Africa's extreme contrasts, the Ulu combines a solid base with a tabletop that seems to hover almost cloud-like. The design pays homage to the spirit and soulfulness of all who live in southern Africa and the inspiration they provide one another daily.

NEW JIUN HO IV COLLECTION SHOWCASES SANDRA JORDAN PRIMA ALPACA Celebrated interior designer reimagines ancient alpaca with contemporary furniture inspired by South America 2013, May 08 (Los Angeles, CA) Sandra Jordan is pleased to announce a stunning collaboration with renowned designer Jiun Ho, whose new furniture collection exclusively features Sandra Jordan Prima Alpaca upholstery. Titled Jiun Ho IV, the collection takes a romantic journey across South America—from the Andes and the Salt Flats of Bolivia to Machu Picchu and the Glaciers of Chile—with 16 new designs. These remarkable pieces include chairs, benches, tables and upholstery in six luxurious Prima Alpaca colorways: Taupe, Putty, Zinc, Forget Me Not, Red Pepper and Olive.

“The South American continent captivates all. It’s blessed with an array of destinations and activities, cradled in the splendors of nature.” Jiun says. “My new furniture collection expresses my deep passion for this place and its peoples.”

With Sandra Jordan Prima Alpaca, Jiun found the perfect match for his pure furniture forms. “Alpaca fabric was once treasured by Incan royalty for its versatility, softness and beauty,” Jiun says. “Sandra Jordan Prima Alpaca truly completes my designs.” Sandra Jordan Prima Alpaca provides the world’s only extensive source of alpaca textiles for the home. A designer's dream fabric, alpaca is seven times warmer and far lighter than sheep’s fleece, does not break, pill, deform or create static. It has a high level of inflammability and is hypoallergenic.

A native of Peru with a passionate appreciation of her country’s traditional arts, company founder Sandra Jordan is deeply committed to offering this precious fiber that the Incas called “the gold of the Andes.” Not only is the tradition of raising alpacas an ancient practice that is a source of pride for Andean people, it also leaves a light footprint on the land. The cycle of herding, sheering and refining the fleece is a green process that gives careful consideration to the environment.

“We are honored to partner with Jiun on such an auspicious collection that captures all the beauty and vibrancy of South America,” Sandra says. “We share his deep passion for bringing what was almost a lost art, the raising of alpacas and the production their fiber, to a modern audience.”

JIUN HO AND RH TEAM UP TO DESIGN VIP LOUNGE FOR EXPLORATORIUM OPENING GALA Designer Jiun Ho Teams Up with RH To Design VIP Lounge for Exploratorium Opening Gala 2013, April 12 April 12, 2013, San Francisco, Calif. - The Exploratorium will celebrate its move to Pier 15 on April 12, 2013 with a gala evening. San Francisco based interior and product designer Jiun Ho has created one of the evening’s exclusive VIP lounges that will be sold to benefit the educational work of the Exploratorium’s science programs. Inspired by nature, the lounge will be composed with RH, Restoration Hardware pieces selected by Jiun Ho.

“It was an honor to be picked to design a lounge for the Exploratorium’s opening gala,” comments Jiun Ho. “The museum is a gem in San Francisco and deserves to be in such a breath taking location.”

For the event each designer was provided a 10ft x 10ft space overlooking the San Francisco Bay and Bay Bridge. The lounges will be reserved for the top contributors to the event and will be provided with a supper club-style dinner and cocktails in a chic setting.

“For this project, I was excited to use RH products,” said Jiun. “In my designs I like to use wood and metal to create a balanced minimalistic space. RH had the perfect pieces for my vision.”

As always, Jiun Ho dove into this project with creativity and passion. He was inspired by the sights of the city and wanted to create a relaxing sanctuary that would look just as stunning outside as it would inside. Designed to compliment the extraordinary views of the new lights on the San Francisco Bay Bridge, Jiun Ho has created an interior that connects with nature and is a feast of the senses. His space goes hand-in-hand with a science experiment, integrating pieces from the Exploratorium that ignite a sense of exploration and discovery through nature.

Beneath the dramatic canopy of RH’s Tucci Atlantis Pavilion, diners of Jiun’s designed space will be seated on an armless Belgian linen sofa from RH’s Soho Tufted Collection that recalls plush seating for London's turn-of-the-century gentlemen's clubs. To highlight the spectacular views of the Bay, RH’s 1920s Naval Binoculars will offer a striking focal point in the lounge. Authentic in form and function to the originals uncovered in an old French naval shipyard, the standing binoculars are handcrafted and finished in polished nickel.

The event is on April 12 from 6pm-1am at Pier 15. For more information about the Exploratorium’s move visit www.exploratorium.edu. To learn more about the RH products Jiun selected for the lounge, please visit www.RH.com.

"PHOTOGRAPHS" FROM RODNEY SMITH Jiun Ho de Jia Presents “Photographs” from Rodney Smith October 18 through January 25, 2013 2012, September 18 Sept 18, 2012 San Francisco, Calif. - Jiun Ho de Jia is proud to present an exhibition of the iconic work of internationally renowned photographer Rodney Smith with an opening reception on October 18, 2012. Displaying an array of crisp black and white photos as well as a selection of his striking color pieces, "Photographs" showcases landscape, portrait and fashion subjects.

"Rodney's photographs are at once elegant, classic and optimistic," comments Jiun Ho de Jia owner Jiun Ho. "The photographs are captivating in their simplicity, but yet always hold a surprise to the viewer. It is for reasons like Rodney's work that I started my gallery. Jiun Ho de Jia was opened for me to share creative expressions from around the world with guests, and his collection of photographs is a perfect addition."

The work of legendary photographer Rodney Smith looks as if it were born out of an earlier era as it is created with the techniques from the past. Forgoing the ease of modern digital methods, Smith uses only real film to create his subtly surreal images, full of classic gentlemen in suits and fedoras, women in long gowns and a distinct lack of stable physics. Using a lush palette of monochrome tones and creating prints that can hang beside any on a museum wall, Smith's images reverberate with an elegant, natural beauty. Rodney Smith is a realist who puts dreams onto paper.

The exhibit will continue through January 25, 2013 at Jiun Ho de Jia located in San Francisco's SOMA District. For more information about the gallery visit http://jiunhodejia.com or call 415-437-2284. To view more work from Rodney Smith visit www.rodneysmith.com

MAISON de LUXE SHOWHOUSE AT GREYSTONE ESTATE, BEVERLY HILLS: 10/27/2011 Jiun Ho Joins Top Designers at LUXE Interiors + Design’s Maison de LUXE Showhouse at the Greystone Estate in Beverly Hills 2011, October 27 October 27, 2011, Los Angeles, Calif. - LUXE Interiors + Design, together with the City of Beverly Hills and the Friends of Greystone present Maison de Luxe, a national designer showhouse at the Historic Greystone Estate in Beverly Hills, Calif. San Francisco-based Jiun Ho is one of twenty leading designers picked to redecorate an individual room at the estate.

Jiun Ho’s space is 530 square feet with 12-foot ceilings, all adorned with original 18th Century architecture by Gordon Kaufman. Allegedly, the room is were Ned Doheny Jr. was murdered by his personal secretary Hugh Plunkett, before Plunkett turned the gun on himself.

“When I was invited to participate in 2011 Maison de LUXE, alongside the country’s top interior designers, I knew that what I created would have to be a reflection of the significance of not only this event, but the Greystone residence itself,” comments Jiun Ho. “I began to envision a room of historical relevance and beauty, a room that could tell a story about the tragedy and death that surrounds "Guest Suite #1."

The tragic story is presented with a modern twist and reminiscent of the era. Jiun Ho created custom designed conversational sofas, armchairs and a cocktail table for the installation. The items will be added to the Jiun Ho Collections. Jiun Ho creates a moody relaxation chamber where guests could gather before and after dinner.

The room features three main pieces of custom artwork that Jiun Ho designed and commissioned one of a kind pieces from hide designer Kyle Bunting. One of the pieces is influenced by Pablo Picaso’s “Guernica.” Playing off of Picasso’s 1930s creative representation of the tragedies of war, the piece depicts the rise and fall of oil tycoon Edward Doheny, the murder of his son Edward (Ned) L. Doheny Jr. and the Teapot Dome Scandal. The other two hide art pieces are Picaso influenced portraits of Edward Doheny and Albert B. Fall-two main characters in the Tea Pot Scandal. “The works of art depict the duality of human nature, our good side and often-darker side of the self,” notes Jiun Ho.

“As you walk around the room, I invite you to take a moment to relax and reflect on the stories told. While we have chosen to highlight the scandals that surround the Doheny story, Greystone Park is just one example of the legacy this family left behind, along with the many philanthropic efforts that enriched the communities of Southern California,” concludes Jiun.

THE KINKOU COLLECTION BY JIUN HO FOR BOLIER: 10/16/2009 THE KINKOU COLLECTION BY JIUN HO FOR BOLIER INTRODUCED AT HIGH POINT FALL MARKET 2009, October 16 -- Contemporary Urban Style and Proportion Emphasized in 20-Pieces Including Casegoods and Seating--

Bolier & Company is introducing a 20-piece seating and casegoods collection by noted San Francisco-based furnishings and interiors designer Jiun Ho at this fall’s High Point Furniture Market in the Bolier showroom, 311 N. Hamilton St.

Each of the Asian-inspired pieces in The Kinkou Collection by Jiun Ho for Bolier reflects Bolier’s consistent ability to bring to the market new designs that appeal to an increasingly sophisticated buyer who is looking for timeless international style at a moderate price point – especially critical in today’s economy.

Bolier President and Founder, Christian G. Plasman cites the appeal of Jiun Ho’s modernist approach to classic Asian forms. He says, “Jiun Ho has a great sensibility. I have admired his work tremendously for some time and with this collection he adds a brilliant new dimension to what the customer will have to select from in the months and years to come.”

Best known for his acclaimed residential and hospitality interiors as well as for the high end Jiun Ho collection in trade showrooms around the country, The Kinkou Collection by Jiun Ho for Bolier is the designer’s first for the retail sector. “Chris Plasman and I have been discussing for a while how we might work together,” he says, “I think that we found just the right moment in terms of making a solid addition to today’s market and what customers are now looking for. In creating this collection for Bolier, I took into account the realities of today’s urban living environments. For example, the seating is scaled slightly lower and each piece in the collection combines a bold profile with deliberately scaled-back dimensions to make each an easy fit in homes and apartments that are often less expansive than they once were.”

“Kinkou,” says Jiun Ho, “is the Japanese word for balance, evoking much needed harmony in an unbalanced world.” Achieving a balance between edge and curve, modern details and classic forms, smooth versus textured finishes, The Kinkou Collection by Jiun Ho for Bolier strikes a chord of unity in any setting, be it modern or traditional. Combining well-tailored frames with lush, comfortable cushions, this collection provides a perfect mix and match experience while providing much needed balance to any interior.

Throughout his new collection for Bolier, Jiun Ho sought to incorporate traditional Asian finishing techniques. Included are wrapped linen over lacquer, cerused surfaces to create a more textured patina, as well as fine Chinese lacquer. Colorations include rich shades of brown, muted whites and deep Chinese reds. The elegant hardware that Jiun Ho created especially for this collection focuses on elegant shades of bronze and gold.

Jiun Ho’s interiors and furnishing have been featured in such publications as Elle Décor, Interior Design, Metropolitan Home and many others. The Kinkou Collection by Jiun Ho for Bolier will be available through Bolier showrooms and through retailers in the US and internationally beginning in spring 2010.

Bolier offers a select portfolio of classic forms inspired by traditional fine furniture and shaped for contemporary lifestyles. Each piece reflects a dedication to design, materials, and authentic craftsmanship and is created to be of lasting value. As Mr. Plasman points out, the new Kinkou Collection by Jiun Ho for Bolier perfectly reflects that approach while adding important new depth and range to his company’s offerings and to the market overall.

JIUN HO INTRODUCES FRENCH COLLECTION INSPIRED BY CHATEAUX OF THE LOIRE VALLEY: 09/17/2008 JIUN HO INTRODUCES FRENCH COLLECTION INSPIRED BY CHATEAUX OF THE LOIRE VALLEY 2008, September 17 -- 20-Piece Seating, Casegoods, Occasional and Upholstery Collection To Be Offered in Showrooms Nationwide --

Noted San Francisco-based furniture and interiors designer Jiun Ho is proud to introduce his latest collection, based on famed styles of 17th century France. Inspired by a biking trip through the Loire Valley, Mr. Ho has taken his signature approach and applied it to the ornate detailing and contours of the period. The result is The French Collection, a unique grouping of 20 pieces – seating, casegoods, upholstery – in a range of materials and colorations, including fresh interpretations of period French metal finishes.

Throughout his trip, Ho – whose recent Africa Collection was similarly inspired – took hundreds of interior and exterior photos on visits to such chateaux as Chenonceaux, Chambord and Villandry. It was these photos that he used as the departure point for creating the French Collection. One of the pieces, the Ussé chair, appeared in the recent Metropolitan Home Showhouse in San Francisco with a patterned hide backing by Kyle Bunting, best known for his hide rugs.

“The French Collection is designed to be transitional,” says Mr. Ho, “with broad application for a full range of interior styles from traditional to contemporary.”
